Retail means to sell in small quantities directly to the ultimate consumer and the industry of such selling. The retail sector has several stakeholders. The primary stakeholders are those who supply the goods (suppliers), those who sell the goods (retailers), and those who consume the goods (consumers). The secondary stakeholders include those who provide financing, transportation, packaging, advertising, contract manufacturing, wholesalers, distributors, and regulators of the industry. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) can be beneficial to all these different stakeholders.
With Machine learning, we can find patterns in the flows and behaviors of all people, products, and processes associated with those stakeholders’ functions. We can apply those learned patterns through AI implementations to drive and optimize (automate and augment) known processes. Artificial intelligence can create and enable entirely new ways of doing business. It does this by learning about the problem space and the associated data.
In this DataHour, Shantha will explain some use cases of AI/ML in the retail industry. She’s also going to answer your queries related to AI and ML in Retail, so come prepared with your questions.
Prerequisites: Enthusiasm for learning Data Science!
