Job Description as follows:

The Data Engineer will design, implement and support the various initiatives of Group Data & Analytics solutions including data lakes (AWS and Google), data workflows and data science models. The objective of this role is simple: deliver world class data & analytics solutions for Holcim corporate and group functions to enable proper business decision making.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Solution design and implementation

1. Design and implement reference/solution architecture for group and corporate data lakes and workflows
2. Design user experience of analytics solutions based on the business/user context

• Best practice

1. Define data engineering and analytics best practices in collaboration with the architects

• Consultancy

1. Consultant / subject matter expert (SME) / lead for data engineering and analytics projects depending on need
2. Contribute to the refresh of the vision/mission/operating model of the Group Data and Analytics department

Specific work experience:

• Required: More than 5 years of progressive experience as AWS Data Engineer and has a full-cycle AWS data lake implementation experience (experience in Google Cloud Platform / BigQuery preferred)
• Functional knowledge in Finance, Procurement, HR, Logistics or Communications would be a clear advantage
• Experience in managing projects using agile methodologies with a product focus
• Knowledge of Construction & Building Materials industry is a plus

Technical / functional skills:

• Expert knowledge in AWS Data lake implementation and support (Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena, DynamoDB, Lambda services)
• Handling of data-related activities such as data parsing, cleansing, quality definitions, pipelining, storage and ETL scripts
• Experience in programming languages: Python / Pyspark / SQL
• Experience in consuming Rest APIs using various authentication options with in AWS Lambda architecture
• Orchestrate triggers, debug and schedule batch jobs using AWS Glue and Lambda
• Understanding of AWS security features such as IAM roles and policies
• Exposure to DevOps tools
• AWS Certification in AWS is highly preferred
• Nice to have: SAP BW and BO development experience
