We, at Jet2 (UK’s third largest airlines and the second largest tour operator), have set up a state-of-the-art Technology and Innovation Centre in Pune, India.  We are expanding our Data Science competency to increase revenue, improve operational efficiency and deliver high quality service to our customers. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join us in this exciting journey to transform our organization by leveraging data.

As a part of J2TT, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the success of the Data Science competency, the incumbent would work closely with other Data Scientists in the team and various stakeholders across multiple geographies (primarily in the UK & India).

A typical day in the life of senior data scientist at Jet2:

• Gain knowledge from business stakeholders and understand the problem statement
• Give tech talks to the business teams about the possibilities of ML/DS
• Brainstorm with data science team on workable solutions
• Pitch new ideas to the team and stakeholders
• Talk to data engineering, product owners, business intelligence teams to gauge the data availability, quality, and architecture
• Mentor team members and resolve doubts if any
• Ideate and experiment to build POCs
• Validate the POC to create a working prototype and visualize the results
• Work with ML engineers to deploy the solution 
• Most importantly, have fun!!

 

Experience and Knowledge

• Good understanding of the Machine Learning Model Development and Deployment Lifecycle
• Hands-on experience of building and serving ML solutions
• Rich experience in various data architecture RDBMS, Datawarehouse & Big Data
• Rich experience of working with regions such as US, UK, Europe or Australia
• Liaise with the Data Engineers, Technology Leaders & Business Stakeholder
• Working knowledge of Agile framework

 

Skills and Behaviours Required

• We are looking for senior data scientists who are passionate about data and technology
• 4-8 years of strong relevant experience building ML models
• Excellent team player who acts as a key member of the team sharing knowledge & experience
• Strong technical skills in following key stack:

• Python, R, PySpark or Julia
• RDBMS – Snowflake, MySQL, Oracle or SQLServer
• SQL Querying – Advanced
• Visualization: Creating dashboards in Tableau/PowerBI Dashboard Advanced ML Framework – Scikit Learn, Good to have exposure of TensorFlow & PyTorch
• Strong theory and mathematical knowledge of Machine Learning Models
• Good to have experience of Deep Learning 
• Methodical approach with good attention to detail
• Strong communication skills – Ability to work with international teams and across cultures

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in information technology engineering, Computer Science or equivalent from reputed institute
• Preference given to GitHub portfolio, Kaggle Ranking and Data Science Certification
• Good to have some background of Airlines or Travel domain
