A New Submission Category - Project-based Article

Are you bored of writing theoretical articles? Analytics Vidhya is introducing a new category for you to brush up on your core concepts and enlighten our readers with detailed projects you must have worked on end to end using an actual dataset!

Guidelines

  • Project Description: A broad context should be provided for the project, as well as its relevance to the industry (highlighting where such a project would be useful for the industry)
  • Problem Statement: Well-defined statement about the task we want to achieve in the project and how it will be measured.
  • Prerequisites: The prerequisites to complete the project should be mentioned at the beginning of the article. e.g., for a detailed exploratory data analysis project, knowledge about matplotlib could be a prerequisite.
  • Dataset description in detail if used and mention the source of data
    • Each Dataset should have 50K - 1 Lakh rows minimum. If the dataset contains images, it should be 20K rows.
  • The article should be a minimum of 3000 words in length
  • There should be an end-to-end solution that includes code, outputs, and documentation.
  • The documentation must describe each step clearly, giving the reason or intuition for each step, and provide detailed inferences drawn from the outputs of each step  (analysis/model building, etc.).
  • The code should be clearly explained using in-code comments or docstrings.
  • The entire code should preferably be hosted on a GitHub repo which is publicly accessible.

Note: Project-based articles will take 3-4 working days to review and provide feedback.

Guide categories

Here is an example of a Project-based Article: Twitter Sentiment Analysis- A NLP Use-Case for Beginners

Note: We will prefer projects on the above topics rather than regular classification/ regression problems. Duplication of the dataset will not be accepted in this blogathon.

Subhradeep Rang

Blogathon 24 iPad Winner

Data Science blogger

I have been writing on the AnalyticsVidhya platform since May 2022 and have learned many things by writing 8 articles until now . In my college days, I worked on some projects on Web Scraping, Data Science and Machine Learning, but as those were all done by me, I don't know if I was doing something wrong. If I want to know this, I must get feedback from somebody familiar with my domain. First, I started writing on Medium. But there I face a little problem- I don't get views in my articles. So I started searching for a platform where I could get a good amount of audience. Then I learned about the Data Science Blogathon organized by AnalyticsVidhya every month. I started writing articles here. The main thing I like most is that they will give feedback on your article. For this, you will get a chance to rectify your errors. Those Blogathons also help me get a good grip on my data analysis skills.

In this fantastic learning journey, I also achieved in Blogathon 22 - one of my articles got 3rd place in the Guides category, which gave me extra rewards. I was excited when I came to know about this. And if you are lucky enough, you can also win an iPad from this blogathon - yes, an iPad. Every month they organize a lucky draw for those contributing to their platform. I am delighted to share that I got an iPad 9th generation in the Blogathon 24 lucky draw. If you want to strengthen your core concepts of the Data Science domain, then writing articles is the best way!

Alifia Ghantiwala

Blogathon 18 iPad Winner

Senior Associate at Morgan Stanley

I have been writing for Analytics Vidhya since April 2021 and that’s how my data science journey began. As I was learning data science on my own, it was essential to receive feedback. That is where Analytics Vidhya’s blogathon helped me. I would first read and research a topic, do projects from datasets available on Kaggle, and post which I would write articles on Analytics Vidhya through the Data Science Blogathons.

Analytics Vidhya has a large data science community, which provided me with visibility and enabled me to receive a freelance offer! Your understanding would only improve when you receive feedback from fellow data scientists, and constructive feedback from their editorial team. Data Science Blogathon happens every month, and you receive a guaranteed stipend if your article is published. And if you are consistent and lucky, you might also win an Ipad like me:) Yes, you read it right! I am delighted to share that I have received an Ipad, 9th Gen from Analytics Vidhya in Blogathon 18 lucky draw. Hence, I would encourage students who plan to build a career in Data Science could leverage this exciting opportunity.
